McDonald’s Introduces Exciting Updates to its Beverages Menu, Leaving Fans in Discontent

McDonald’s Upsets Fans with Major Change to Drinks Menu | Updated

McDonald’s has recently made a significant alteration to its drinks menu, which has left fans disappointed as their favorite beverages have been taken off the shelves. The popular fast-food chain in the UK will no longer serve regular versions of Fanta and Oasis, replacing them with sugar-free alternatives. However, Coca-Cola enthusiasts can still enjoy the original version as well as Diet Coke. This drastic change applies to all 1,300 McDonald’s stores in the UK and aims to help customers reduce their sugar consumption. For instance, a medium Fanta Orange contains a staggering 18 grams of sugar and 76 calories, but soon it will be replaced by Fanta Zero, which only has 4 calories.

Oasis, a similar-sized drink, contains 17 grams of sugar and 67 calories. Nonetheless, Oasis Summer Fruits Zero will only have 2 grams of sugar and 12 calories. McDonald’s UK has decided to remove regular Fanta and Oasis from its fizzy drinks offering and replace them with sugar-free versions. However, McDonald’s will continue to sell Coca-Cola, which has slightly less sugar than the discontinued beverages. Fans expressed their disappointment with the change on social media, with one lamenting the removal of full-fat Oasis and another asking McDonald’s to bring back the regular sugar version.

In response, a McDonald’s spokesperson explained that this change reflects their commitment to providing customers with more balanced choices. The transition from Fanta Orange and Oasis Summer Fruits to their sugar-free alternatives began in September across all restaurants in the UK and Ireland. The spokesperson added that clear signage will indicate when these changes are taking place, and options like Coca-Cola Classic and Irn-Bru (Scotland only) will still be available. This announcement comes shortly after McDonald’s announced the return of the McRib, a menu item that had previously been phased out.

The McRib, a seasoned boneless pork patty coated in barbecue sauce with onions and dill pickles, was reintroduced due to popular demand. Despite its controversial status, McDonald’s decided to bring it back for a limited time. Fans expressed their excitement on Twitter, but some also called for the return of regular Coke and regular Oasis along with the McRib. McDonald’s clarified that the McRib will only be available in select locations, as is the case with other limited-time items such as Spicy McNuggets and the Cookies and Creme pie. In 2022, McDonald’s announced the “farewell tour” for the McRib, making fans believe it would be their last chance to enjoy it. To capitalize on the hype, the fast-food chain even sold merchandise related to the event.

Overall, McDonald’s continues to make changes to its menu, with some decisions leaving fans disappointed. However, the company remains committed to providing more balanced choices and catering to customer preferences.
