McCaffrey and Williams React to 49ers Running Back’s Surprising New Record

McCaffrey, Williams shocked by 49ers running back’s latest record

Christian McCaffrey continues to make NFL history.

McCaffrey’s two rushing touchdowns during
the 49ers’ 31-13 win
over the Seattle Seahawks set a new single-season record for the San Francisco 49ers. His 11th touchdown surpassed Frank Gore and five other former 49ers running backs.

McCaffrey’s latest accomplishment took even him and Trent Williams by surprise. Williams remarked, “He might be able to double it. I don’t know. Every week he is finding his way into that end zone. I guess we are all going to sit back and watch history happen and see how he takes it.”

Introducing McCaffrey to his new record, he responded, “Nice. That’s his record, not mine,” crediting Williams and the offensive line for his success. The running back rushed for 114 yards and caught five of his six targets for 25 yards in Thursday night’s game. With these numbers, McCaffrey leads the NFL in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total yards from scrimmage, and touchdowns.

Williams praised McCaffrey, saying, “He deserves every bit of it. He is the hardest worker on the team. Can’t say enough about him. He’s the only person who will be able to beat it next year.”
