MIAMI, Sept. 14 (UPI) — Cole Kmet of the Chicago Bears is one of the top four tight ends you should start in Week 2 of the fantasy football season.

For your preparation, check out my Week 2 rankings for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. These rankings will be regularly updated with any developments, including injuries.

If you have Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs or Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens on your roster, keep an eye on their status due to potential injuries that could sideline them for Week 2.

T.J. Hockenson, Kyle Pitts, Dallas Goedert, Evan Engram, and George Kittle are the top five in my rankings. See the full list below.

Cole Kmet

Kmet is ranked No. 6 for Week 2, but he should only be in lineups in leagues that require starting tight ends. In Week 1, he matched his season-high from last year with seven targets in a loss to the Green Bay Packers.

He finished with five catches for 44 yards, ranking inside the top 10 at the position. This week, the Bears will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In Week 1, the Buccaneers allowed the most catches (11) for 67 yards to tight ends. They also gave up the sixth-most fantasy points to the position in 2022.

I anticipate both teams airing it out in Week 2, resulting in strong fantasy performances for their top offensive weapons. Kmet had the same number of targets as wide receiver Darnell Mooney and running back Roschon Johnson in Week 1, which was the most among Bears pass catchers.

Kmet is a strong bet to record at least five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Luke Musgrave

Musgrave recorded three catches for 50 yards on four targets in the Packers’ Week 1 win. Like most tight ends, he’s a touchdown-dependent play, but he has a great chance to score in Week 2.

The Packers will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Atlanta.

In Week 1, the Falcons allowed five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown to Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst. They also gave up the third-most fantasy points to the position in 2022.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love spread the ball to eight different pass catchers in Week 1, with at least three targets for six of them.

I expect the rookie tight end to continue to be heavily involved in the Packers’ game plan. He should have at least five catches for 50 yards and has potential to finish in the top five if he finds the end zone. Musgrave is ranked No. 8 in my rankings.

Sam LaPorta

LaPorta is ranked No. 10 in my Week 2 tight end rankings. The Detroit Lions tight end had five catches for 39 yards on five targets in Week 1, catching all of his opportunities.

The Lions will host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in Detroit. The Seahawks allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends last season and the second-most yards (70) to the position in Week 1.

I expect another high-scoring game in this matchup. LaPorta should also be a great option in the red zone and has a good chance of scoring a touchdown for the Lions.

Hunter Henry

Henry had six targets, five catches, 56 yards, and a touchdown in the New England Patriots’ Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

In Week 2, the Patriots will play the Miami Dolphins, who allowed the second-most fantasy points to tight ends in Week 1. The Dolphins also gave up the fourth-most fantasy points to the position in 2022.

Henry received at least four targets in nine games last season and should continue to be involved in the offense, especially if quarterback Mac Jones continues to throw the ball frequently. However, Jones only averaged 5.9 yards per completion in Week 1, ranking 17th in the league.

The Patriots may struggle to push the ball downfield this season, especially with cornerback Xavien Howard covering their top wide receiver. These trends should increase Henry’s target share in Week 2.

He is projected to receive at least six targets again against the Dolphins. Henry is ranked No. 12 in my rankings.
