Massive Attack on Gaza Hospital Claims Over 300 Lives: Urgent Plea from Taoiseach to Israel for Immediate Food, Water, and Aid Relief

According to a health ministry official in Gaza, the recent air strike resulted in at least 500 deaths and injuries. Reuters reported that the death toll could potentially be as high as 500, with the overall number of dead and injured reaching as high as 800. The strike on the hospital was condemned by Doctors Without Borders, who called it “a massacre” and expressed their horror at the incident. Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah, who was operating in the hospital at the time of the explosion, described the chaos as the ceiling collapsed on the operating room.

The civil defense authority has confirmed that the hospital was hit by an Israeli airstrike, but the Israeli military has denied responsibility for the attack. They claim that military intelligence suggests the hospital was hit by a failed rocket launch by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad military group. The Israeli Embassy in Dublin also issued a statement supporting this claim.

However, a spokesperson for the Islamic Jihad group in Gaza, Daoud Shehab, called the Israeli accusations a “lie and fabrication.” He claimed that the Israeli occupation is trying to cover up the horrifying crime committed against civilians.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar emphasized the importance of not targeting civilian infrastructure in Gaza, and called on the European Union to address the dire humanitarian situation. Varadkar also urged Israel to reverse its decision to cut off water, food, medical, and fuel supplies to Gaza.

The violence in Gaza has resulted in thousands of deaths and numerous injuries. The United Nations and other international partners are being called upon to create humanitarian corridors and provide vital supplies to the region. The Palestinian Liberation Organisation has accused Israel of committing genocide and called on the international community to intervene.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the Israeli strike on the hospital, stating that it was “horrific and absolutely unacceptable.” The death toll in Gaza continues to rise, with health authorities reporting around 3,000 deaths. Additionally, an Israeli air strike on a school run by the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency claimed the lives of at least six people.

As the violence persists, the United States announced that President Joe Biden would visit Israel to show support for its actions against Hamas. Israel has vowed to annihilate the Islamist group after they killed 1,300 people, mostly civilians, during an attack on Israeli communities. Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes, displacing half of Gaza’s population and imposing a total blockade on the region.

In a separate incident, a senior Hamas military commander, Ayman Nofal, was killed in an Israeli airstrike. He was in charge of central Gaza, according to the Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
