Martha Stewart’s luxurious New York City triplex fetches $31 million in sale

Martha Stewart, the renowned hospitality guru, has finally sold her West Village triplex, although not at the price she had initially hoped for. It’s worth mentioning that while Stewart’s name appeared on the deed, it was her daughter Alexis who actually lived in the luxurious residence. Alexis, a mother of two and former SiriusXM host who also appeared on “The Apprentice,” was widely reported as the owner of the property.

The impressive 9,500-square-foot triplex, located at 165 Charles St. and designed by Richard Meier, hit the market in 2019 with a hefty price tag of $53 million. After more than four years, the property has finally been sold, but the new owner managed to acquire it for only $31 million, a significant 42% below the asking price.

Interestingly, the seller’s paperwork lists the address of Martha’s Westchester County farm, fueling speculation that she may have played a significant role in financing the property. In 2007, there were already doubts about Alexis’s ability to afford such a valuable real estate investment solely based on her income as a Sirius Satellite Radio host.

Even though the final price of $31 million is still astonishing, it’s important to note the remarkable features of the triplex. With 600 square feet of outdoor space, breathtaking views of the Hudson River, and a walk-in refrigerator, the unit offers a luxurious lifestyle. The primary suite occupies an entire floor and includes a private gym. Located in the West Village, the Richard Meier-designed building exemplifies elegant architecture.

Despite the opulence of her triplex, Alexis mentioned in her 2019 listing that one thing it lacked was a yard. The broker, Richard Ziegelasch, declined to comment on the sale, and requests for comments from Martha Stewart’s representatives went unanswered.
