Mark Zuckerberg makes a playful comeback to Elon Musk through his first tweet in years

Mark Zuckerberg made his first tweet in 11 years on the same day that Meta launched Threads, its Twitter rival. In a playful jab at Elon Musk, Zuckerberg tweeted a meme featuring two Spider-Man pointing at each other. The timing of the post suggests the two men are representing Zuckerberg and Musk. Threads was launched in over 100 countries, allowing users to write text posts up to 500 characters long, as well as share photos and videos up to five minutes long. Similar to Twitter, users can like, repost, and reply to others, but direct messaging is not currently available.

Threads is a standalone app, but users can log in with their Instagram credentials and follow the same accounts. This connection to the popular social media site may attract Instagram’s two billion monthly active users. Within seven hours of its launch, Threads gained over 10 million users, including celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Gates, and Shakira, who have already made the switch from Twitter. US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with 13.3 million followers on Twitter, also joined Threads and expressed her hopes for a positive and inclusive platform.

Various other celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, and Wiz Khalifa, have joined Threads. Notably, Elon Musk did not create an account. However, he indirectly responded to Zuckerberg’s tweet by criticizing the happiness portrayed on Instagram and expressing a preference for criticisms on Twitter.

This exchange follows Musk’s challenge to Zuckerberg for a cage fight, which came after Meta’s announcement of a text-based social media platform that has been referred to as the “Twitter killer.” It remains uncertain if and when the two will officially confront each other, but their rivalry has reportedly been ongoing behind closed doors for years.

Musk, who trained in various martial arts as a child, was recently seen sparring during a training session for the potential cage match. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, has been sharing videos of his MMA training and even won a gold medal in his first amateur Brazilian jiujitsu tournament.
