Oct. 6 (UPI) — Mark Ballas, the former professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars, and his wife, BC Jean, a singer-songwriter, are sharing their journey through a past miscarriage. Alongside their new song “Rainbow,” the couple opens up about the emotional experience they went through.
Ballas and Jean released “Rainbow” under their music duo, Alexander Jean.
“We lost a baby last year, just when we thought we were in a good place to tell friends and family, we received the heavy news that our little one wasn’t going to make it,” the couple told their fans. Reflecting on the profound sadness they felt, they added, “We’ve both experienced hardship in our lives, but this was a different kind of sadness. This song is for anyone who has experienced loss in any form. We hope it brings whoever listens some kind of peace and reminds you that a rainbow isn’t far behind.”
Ballas’ mother, dancer and Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, along with DWTS pro Jenna Johnson, showed their support for the couple on Instagram. Shirley Ballas commented, “the most beautifully written song that I have ever heard. This one hits my heart the most. I love you both so very much and I am so very sorry for your loss. Xxx.” Johnson added, “This really hits home, you guys. Love you so much.”
Ballas and Jean tied the knot in November 2016 and recently announced that they are expecting their first child.
With 20 seasons as a pro dancer on Dancing with the Stars, Ballas announced his retirement from the show in March.
