In a recent People interview, Robbie discussed her friends’ reactions and her thoughts on missing the opportunity for a lip lock.
“Uh, no!” Robbie laughed when asked about not kissing Gosling. “That didn’t feel like a win for me.”
“All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well, you did a whole movie with him, and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!'” Robbie added.
“I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off,'” she said, seemingly alluding to a bucket list.
Gosling, who was also present in the interview with Robbie, shared his perspective on the kissing matter.
“It was humorous trying to decipher what their [Barbie and Ken] idea of kissing might be,” Gosling remarked. “I’m glad that all of that got omitted.”
The movie, which premiered in theaters on Friday, has already earned “$22.3 million at the domestic box office in Thursday previews,” and it is projected to exceed “$100 million in its opening weekend,” according to Variety.
Aside from their characters’ romantic storyline, the actors also discussed their experience of working opposite each other in the interview.
“Well, Margot is uncrackable. She’s a rock. It’s frustrating,” Gosling commented on his inability to make Robbie laugh during filming.
“No, I was laughing throughout everything. Ryan would do something different in every take,” Robbie mentioned.
“I usually manage to stay composed in a scene because I don’t want to ruin anyone’s great take, but I couldn’t hold it together 50 percent of the time,” she added jokingly.
“But she’s unbreakable, so it’s quite frustrating,” Gosling concluded.
