July 25 (UPI) — The Las Vegas Raiders have announced the signing of veteran cornerback Marcus Peters.
According to sources cited by NFL Network, ESPN, and The Athletic, Peters has agreed to a one-year contract with the team. Peters, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, spent the majority of the past three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
Last season, Peters recorded impressive stats with 47 tackles, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and a sack in 13 starts. He led the NFL in interception return yards and touchdowns in three different seasons.
Peters was initially drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs as the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. In his debut season, he earned the Defensive Rookie of the Year award with eight interceptions, 26 passes defensed, and two interceptions returned for touchdowns.
After being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, Peters eventually found himself with the Ravens in 2019. Throughout his first 104 NFL appearances, he accumulated 346 tackles, 92 passes defensed, 32 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries, and six interceptions for touchdowns.
Peters currently holds the record for the most interception return yards among active NFL players, with 822. He ranks 25th in NFL history in that category.
Raiders rookies began their training camp in Henderson, Nevada last week, while veterans are scheduled to report to the Intermountain Health Performance Center on Tuesday.
