While approaching the residence, police officers heard a gunshot originating from outside the property. The shot came so close to the officers that they had to take immediate cover and request backup. Subsequently, law enforcement officers surrounded the house and called in both the department’s emergency response team and SWAT team.

Police have not yet confirmed whether Puckett fired the shot directed at them.

Officials have taken measures to clear the surrounding area and establish blockades. They are advising residents in the vicinity to remain indoors and, if possible, avoid Stanley Spencer Mountain Road.

Law enforcement is currently conducting searches of nearby residences and wooded areas in search of Puckett. Authorities have identified him as the sole suspect in this case.

Captain Hensley informed Channel 9 that Puckett is currently wanted for several charges, including felony breaking and entering, possession of methamphetamine, and carrying a concealed weapon.

By 5:30 p.m., police completed their search of the area, however, no arrests have been made. Officers will remain in the area and are urging neighbors to remain vigilant for any sightings of Puckett and to promptly report any suspicious activity to the police department.
