Man United Becomes a ‘Graveyard’ for Managers and Players, Claims Gary Neville

The pressure is mounting on Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s disappointing run continues. The Red Devils suffered a 3-2 defeat against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday, following their loss to Crystal Palace in the Premier League last weekend.

In the latest episode of Mail Sport’s podcast, ‘It’s All Kicking Off,’ Gary Neville expressed sympathy towards United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, stating that the club has become a ‘graveyard’ for both coaches and players. He acknowledged the difficulties that managers have faced over the past decade and feels sorry for Ten Hag in this current situation.

“I feel very sorry for the manager. I know a lot of people will say he’s got to do better, but there are a lot of big problems at the club that managers have encountered over the last ten years,” Neville revealed during an interview with talkSPORT.

Reflecting on the struggles faced by players at Manchester United, Neville added, “There are very few players who have excelled at Manchester United in the last ten years. They were all highly regarded players when they arrived at the club, and they were wanted by other clubs. But when they came to Manchester United, they didn’t succeed or perform at their expected levels. Why is that? It’s because the club doesn’t have the right culture for accepting players in the way it should, and we need to correct that.”

Manchester United’s recent form under Ten Hag has been agonizing, with the team now languishing in mid-table. Remarkably, Ten Hag currently shares the same loss ratio in the Premier League as Ralf Rangnick, the interim manager before Ten Hag’s arrival. Both managers have a 29% loss ratio, with Rangnick losing seven out of 24 matches and Ten Hag losing 13 out of 45 games.

Despite leading the club to a third-place finish in the Premier League last season, Ten Hag’s side has struggled this season and is well behind in the race for the top four. Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeats when they face Brentford on Saturday, a team that thrashed them 4-0 during Ten Hag’s early days in charge.
