Man detained following self-inflicted gunshot in a dream

Sleepwalking is a common phenomenon, but a man from Illinois took it to another level by sleepshooting. Mark Dicara, a 62-year-old resident of Lake Barrington, had a dream that someone had broken into his home, and he shot the “intruder,” as reported by CBS. However, when he woke up, he realized he had actually shot himself in the leg with his .357 Magnum. Thankfully, the bullet did not pass through the walls and endanger his neighbors, instead lodging itself into his bedding, according to a press release by the police department.

Police arrived at the scene on April 10 to find Dicara losing a significant amount of blood. After investigating, they discovered that there had been no burglary attempt. However, they also found that Dicara’s Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card had been revoked, which is required for gun owners in the state. The reason for the revocation was not disclosed by the police. As a result, Dicara has been charged with two felonies: possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card and reckless discharge of a firearm. He was arrested and later released on a $150,000 bond, according to Fox 32. (Read more strange stuff stories.)
