Malala Yousafzai and Her Husband Embrace the “Barbie” Trend: “This Barbie Doll is a Nobel Prize Winner, While He’s Ken”

Malala Yousafzai, the renowned advocate for girls’ education, recently had a lighthearted moment with her husband that she playfully dubbed her “Barbie” moment. Sharing a photo on Instagram, Yousafzai jokingly stated, “This Barbie has a Nobel Prize,” as she posed with her husband, Asser Malik, inside a prop box from the “Barbie” movie. Making light of the film’s marketing campaign, which highlighted the accomplishments of the female characters while downplaying the male characters, Yousafzai added, “He’s just Ken.”

Expressing her enjoyment of the film, directed by Greta Gerwig, Yousafzai said, “We loved the movie, it was so funny and thoughtful.” She playfully added, “I hope this caption doesn’t hurt all the Kens as much as the movie Ken.” In response, her husband humorously declared, “I’m Kenough.”

Yousafzai’s journey to international recognition began in 2012 when she survived a Taliban attack in which she was shot in the head for advocating for girls’ education in Pakistan. Despite the traumatic experience, Yousafzai did not let it silence her voice. In 2014, she became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, demonstrating that young people can make a significant impact in improving their own circumstances. She later completed her studies at Oxford University and married Asser Malik, a manager with the Pakistan Cricket Board, in 2021.
