Madonna will be rescheduling the North American leg of her upcoming world tour due to her recent hospitalization.
In a social media post on Monday, the superstar announced that she is “on the road to recovery” but needs to prioritize her health in order to heal.
In June, Madonna, who is 64 years old, was hospitalized with a serious bacterial infection that required intensive care. As a result, she will be rescheduling 41 concerts in the U.S. and Canada that were part of her international Celebration Tour.
“Thank you for all your positive energy,” Madonna wrote, expressing her gratitude for the love and support from her fans.
She continued, “When I woke up in the hospital, my first thought was of my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who had bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who have been working tirelessly with me over the past few months to create an amazing show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”
Madonna assured her fans that she will be back in the spotlight “as soon as I can!”
The Grammy-winning artist shared this statement along with a selfie.
Live Nation has confirmed that Madonna’s North American tour dates have been canceled. Ticket holders are advised to keep their existing tickets, as they will be valid for the rescheduled concert dates.
At this time, it is uncertain when the North American performances will be rescheduled.
