Madonna in “Recovery Mode” at Home, Following ICU Scare – Confirms Longtime Pal Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell fondly recalled her time shooting “A League of Their Own” alongside her close friend Madonna. On Instagram, O’Donnell answered fan inquiries about the pair’s Rockford Peaches days and shared that Madonna was currently “recovering at home” following a hospital stay in the ICU. Madonna’s longtime talent manager, Guy Oseary, revealed that the 64-year-old “Like a Virgin” singer had been rushed to the hospital last week, leading to the rescheduling of her Celebration World Tour. Fox News Digital has reached out to Madonna’s representatives for further details.

Rosie O’Donnell and Madonna have been best friends since meeting on the set of “A League of Their Own” in 1991. When a follower asked for an update, O’Donnell replied, “She is recovering at home – she is very strong in general.” Another fan expressed well wishes and indifference towards the tour, to which O’Donnell responded with a heart emoji and assured that Madonna is doing well.

The actress first crossed paths with the Queen of Pop while working on the Penny Marshall film “A League of Their Own.” Since then, they have remained close, with Madonna even making appearances on Rosie’s former daytime talk show.

Directed by Penny Marshall, “A League of Their Own” revolves around the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The film stars Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Téa Leoni, Jon Lovitz, and Bill Pullman. Madonna, a pop icon, was recently hospitalized after developing a “serious” bacterial infection.

According to her team, Madonna’s ICU stay was a result of a severe bacterial infection that she acquired on Saturday, June 24. In an Instagram post, Oseary explained that while her health is improving, she is still receiving medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. Previously, Madonna had to cancel shows on her last tour in 2019 due to a knee injury, ultimately ending the tour prematurely.

Dr. Marc Siegel, a Fox News medical contributor, commented that a stay in the ICU is concerning and indicates a life-threatening situation. He suggested that common causes could include pneumonia or a urinary infection spreading to the blood and lungs. Despite the seriousness of Madonna’s condition, the fact that she has been discharged from the ICU is a positive sign for her recovery.

Madonna had planned to launch her Celebration World Tour in July, coinciding with her 40-year anniversary in the entertainment industry. However, fans have experienced disappointment in the past when she canceled shows on her Madame X Tour in 2019. Additionally, in February, Madonna mourned the loss of her older brother, Anthony Ciccone.
