This internet sensation-turned-wrestler secured his first major championship by defeating Hall of Fame wrestler at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event on Saturday. During the match, Paul utilized a brass knuckle handed to him by one of his accomplices, knocking out Mysterio and claiming victory.

This triumph followed a series of verbal exchanges between the two opponents in the lead-up to the bout. Paul initially called out Mysterio after his exhibition boxing match win against Dillon Danis in Manchester, England on October 14th.
“This is just a hobby for me,” Paul taunted provocatively, declaring that his true passion lies in being a WWE superstar. He confidently stated, “I’m an American boy, and I want that U.S. title. Rey Mysterio, I’ve already beaten you once, and now I’m coming for that U.S. championship.”
Mysterio reacted to Paul’s challenge during an appearance on The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani, expressing his surprise at the public callout. He remarked, “He’s been performing well in the ring. He recently won a fight, so his confidence was at its peak. He was filled with adrenaline. The question now is, will he maintain his composure when we decide to have this match?”
Mysterio also mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that he’s “not hard to find, homie. Every Friday night on SmackDown.” In response, Paul simply replied, “See you soon.”
Their feud escalated at the official weigh-in event, where Paul playfully patted Mysterio on the head, provoking Mysterio to slap him in the face. This led to a scuffle that resulted in their forcible separation by WWE personnel and SmackDown manager Nick Aldis.
Paul’s wrestling journey began when he made his in-ring debut on an episode of SmackDown in April 2021, teaming up with The Miz against Mysterio and his son, Dominik, at WrestleMania 38. Since then, he has challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel 2022, participated in the 2023 Money in the Bank ladder match, and faced Richochet at SummerSlam.
