Live Nation Worldwide Inc. is seeking dismissal from a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was forcefully pushed into bushes by a crowd of concertgoers while leaving a Rolling Stones concert at Sofi Stadium in 2021. In court papers submitted to Torrance Superior Court Judge Deirdre Hill, Live Nation’s lawyers assert that the plaintiff voluntarily assumed the risks associated with attending the concert, making her solely responsible for any injuries sustained. Live Nation also reserves the right to present additional defenses if necessary and requests that the plaintiff’s complaint be dismissed.
The lawsuit also includes SoFi Stadium as a defendant, with allegations of negligence and premises liability. According to the complaint, the plaintiff and her daughter left the Rolling Stones concert early in an attempt to avoid the rush of the crowd. However, while walking to their car, they encountered a group of fans being directed by stadium staff through temporary guard rails. As people hurriedly made their way to their cars, the guard rails collapsed, resulting in the plaintiff being forcefully thrown into nearby bushes. The lawsuit contends that if the concertgoers had been guided in a safer manner and the guard rails had been more sturdy, the incident could have been avoided. The suit also claims there was inadequate security staff present.
