Follow Mail Sport’s live blog for the preseason Hall of Fame Game between the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are looking to score their first touchdown as they reach the Jets’ 10-yard line. Can Kellen Mond make it happen? This is the closest Cleveland has come to the end zone all night, and we’re nearing the end of the second quarter.

Cedric Tillman gets a first down at the Jets’ 32-yard line. New York declines the penalty, giving the Browns a chance to reset their offense.

It’s first down for Cleveland again after a holding penalty.

On second down, receiver Demetric Felton Jr. gets the ball from Mond and rushes to the 35-yard line. The Browns are knocking on the door at the 45-yard line.

The pressure is on Mond to make something happen here. It’s first and 10 for Cleveland with 4:45 left on the clock in the second quarter.

The Browns’ return is stopped at the 29-yard line.

Mond completes his pass to Kelly Jr., who gets the Browns to the Jets’ 40-yard line before a 10-yard penalty for holding is called against the team.

Touchdown New York! The extra-point field goal is converted, making it Jets 13-0 Browns.

Running back Israel Abanikanda rushes into the end zone. Can Cleveland get back into the game, or will the deficit grow before halftime?

Mond’s pass is intercepted for the second time tonight. Jets linebacker Chazz Surratt intercepts the ball at the 40-yard line, forcing another error from the Browns’ backup quarterback. Mond had a good opening drive, but things have gone downhill from there. Can he recover?

Boyle completes his first pass as the Jets punt it back to Cleveland.

The Jets didn’t want to take a chance on fourth down and have now given the ball back to the Browns at their 25-yard line.

The second quarter is underway.

It looks like the Browns didn’t take advantage of their opening drive in this quarter, with the Jets now back in possession. Can New York’s offense capitalize on Cleveland’s lack of cutting edge and score the game’s first touchdown?

It also seems like Tim Boyle has come in for Zach Wilson. We’re not sure why he’s out of the firing line, but maybe head coach Robert Saleh just wants to give all of his backup QBs a feel for tonight’s game.

End of the first quarter: Jets lead 6-0.

Two field goals from new Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein give New York a slim lead over their Midwest rivals as we approach the start of the second quarter.

Zach Wilson’s pass is deflected at the 44-yard line, giving kicker Greg Zuerlein another chance to convert a field goal. He succeeds, making it 6-0 for the Jets as we come to the end of the first quarter. When will the first touchdown come?

Jim Brown honored. The Browns legend is shown on the Jumbotron after the game’s first points are scored. Brown passed away at 87 years of age in May, having been a Super Bowl champion in 1964.

Jets 3-0 Browns: Veteran Greg Zuerlein gives New York the first points of the game. The 35-year-old, who was signed this offseason, converts a 54-yard field goal after impressive offense from Zach Wilson.

The Jets are now on the ball.

Wilson gets another shot at getting the Jets on the scoring board in the opening quarter. He completes a 57-yard pass to Malik Taylor, who makes a brilliant catch and runs full speed to get in front of his defender.

Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers are in demand in Canton, with fans urging them to sign autographs.

Kellen Mond is looking good out there. The Browns’ second-string QB seems more at ease than Wilson on the field. He has 27 yards so far and is trying to get Cleveland out of their own half, but the Jets defense is proving to be a challenge.

Wilson gets things underway for New York’s offense. Unfortunately, he only rushes for 3 yards and completes just one pass on all four downs. The ball goes back to Cleveland.

Cleveland misses a field goal at the 49-yard line, concluding their opening drive. Up next, Zach Wilson and the Jets’ offense.

The Browns are edging closer to the end zone. They are trying to find a way through at the 24-yard line, but QB Kellen Mond is sacked on third down. The Jets were penalized 15 yards earlier, giving the Browns an opportunity at the 36-yard line.

Hamsah Nasirildeen exits the game early for the Jets, holding onto his left arm. It’s unclear if he’ll continue, but he doesn’t appear to be in a worrying state.

And just like that, we’re underway! Tonight’s game has started.

Let’s see how both teams fare without their starting QBs. Who will come out on top? Share your thoughts in the comments.

New Pro Football Hall of Famer Demarcus Ware sings the national anthem. Many NFL fans might not have known about the former Dallas Cowboys linebacker’s musical talents. He received a big round of applause from fans after his vocal performance.

This year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class has been enshrined. All nine former pros were introduced to fans at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium before tonight’s preseason game. The class includes Ronde Barber, Don Coryell, Joe Klecko, Darrelle Revis, Ken Riley, Joe Thomas, Zach Thomas, and Demarcus Ware.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell greets Browns QB Deshaun Watson. The 27-year-old claims to be a changed man since completing his 11-game suspension last season, following his trade from the Houston Texans. Read more here: [link to article].

Zach Wilson gets his chance to shine tonight. It’s only a preseason game, but last season’s starting QB can demonstrate his worth and prove that he is the natural successor to Rodgers once the latter’s contract is up in 2025.

The Jets’ starting QB, also known as ‘AR12’ or ‘AR8,’ is seen on the field for the first time tonight. He was spotted in conversation with Jets owner Woody Johnson, the former US ambassador to the U.K. under the Trump Administration, before kickoff. Any thoughts on what the pair have talked about?

The Aaron Rodgers effect. An endless line of fans has been waiting outside Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, eager to get through the gates and to their seats for the 57th annual Hall of Fame Game.

Tonight marks the 57th playing of the Hall of Fame Game, which debuted in 1962 and has been played annually, with the exception of four years. The Browns are making their sixth overall appearance in the Hall of Fame Game and their first since 1999. The Jets are making their third appearance and their first since 1992.

Gang Green arrive in Canton. Zach Wilson is likely to start as the Jets quarterback tonight over Aaron Rodgers. Wilson, the former No. 2 overall pick, has now been assigned the backup quarterback role after a turbulent 2022 season and Aaron Rodgers’ arrival. Many view Rodgers’ presence as beneficial to the ex-BYU standout. And it seems Wilson is in agreement with that sentiment at the beginning of minicamp.

Welcome! Good evening and welcome to Mail Sport’s coverage of the 2023 Hall of Fame Game! The New York Jets will be taking on the Cleveland Browns in Canton, Ohio at 8pm ET. This is the first chance to see the revamped AFC East squad, highlighted by the acquisition of Aaron Rodgers. Stay tuned for live updates from the game! Share or comment on this article.
