LinkedIn Cuts More Than 660 Jobs: The Reality of a Changing Workforce

LinkedIn, the employment-focused social media site, announced on Monday that it will be laying off over 660 workers across its engineering, product, talent, and finance teams.

In a news release, the company stated that these talent changes are necessary and regular for managing their business.

This second round of major layoffs follows LinkedIn’s announcement in May of their plans to cut more than 700 jobs, which was part of their efforts to make changes to their Global Business Organization (GBO) and their China strategy.

In an email obtained by Insider, LinkedIn executives explained that this round of layoffs is a reflection of the need to evolve their work processes and prioritize key initiatives.

Despite the organizational changes, LinkedIn emphasized their commitment to investing in strategic priorities for the future and providing support to impacted employees during the transition.

It is important to note that these layoffs at LinkedIn are happening amidst a series of job cuts across the tech industry. Companies like Amazon, Google-parent Alphabet, Dell, Microsoft, and Facebook-parent Meta have also been reducing positions, according to Layoffs.fyi.
