In an announcement on Instagram Friday, former One Direction star Liam Payne expressed his regret in having to postpone his South American tour due to a serious kidney infection.
Payne shared a video where he revealed that he has been unwell recently and had been hospitalized for the past week.
The 29-year-old singer stated, “This is definitely not the news I wanted to share with you. We had started rehearsals, but I have been advised that now is not the right time to be on the road trying to recover from this.”
“The doctor has ordered me to rest and recover,” he added in the caption.
Payne did not provide further details about his illness or hospitalization but conveyed that it is something he wouldn’t wish on anyone. He also apologized to his fans who had purchased tickets.
Regarding the tour, which was initially scheduled for six dates in September across Peru, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, the English pop star assured fans that his team is working on rescheduling it. Ticket holders will be refunded for their purchases in the meantime.
“Hopefully, we’ll put on an even bigger show,” Payne said in his video as he thanked his supporters. “I’m looking forward to seeing you guys soon.”
