Forget headshots, crotchshots are the new trend.
The latest video game adaptation of RoboCop, titled RoboCop: Rogue City, pays homage to Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 cult classic with its cast of characters and faithful recreation of a dystopian, decaying Detroit. However, one aspect that truly captures RoboCop’s essence is his affinity for taking down bad guys with a focus on their groin area. Groin attacks play a vital role in the gameplay experience of RoboCop: Rogue City.
RoboCop: Rogue City even acknowledges this tactical move with an achievement called “Zip This Up,” which rewards players for landing a shot on an enemy’s “sensitive spot.”
But it’s not just a gimmick. While headshots are typically effective against most enemies and provide a satisfying experience reminiscent of action movies, groin shots can be equally effective. In fact, when facing heavily armored opponents in RoboCop: Rogue City, targeting their vulnerable areas is often the ideal method of attack.
I only discovered this strategy late in my playthrough of Rogue City, when I grew tired of emptying multiple rounds into each armored mercenary’s helmet. By chance, I landed a well-aimed shot on one of their testicles, and it took them down immediately. It was a game-changer. I then revisited earlier levels and found that neutralizing enemies by hitting them where it hurts was an incredibly efficient approach to enforcing the law.
From that point on, my experience with RoboCop: Rogue City unfolded like this:
RoboCop: Rogue City will be available on November 2 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Early access to the game is offered through the Alex Murphy Edition.
