Leo: Vijay’s Film Sees Significant 44% Decrease in Box Office Earnings on Day 2

Leo: Vijay-starrer witnesses 44% drop on 2nd day

Leo, the movie starring Vijay, had an extraordinary opening day at the box office. However, it experienced a significant decline in collections on its second day.

The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, achieved a worldwide gross of Rs 140 crore on its opening day, with Rs 64.8 crore nett in India. Unfortunately, it witnessed a drop of around 44% on the second day, resulting in collections of Rs 36 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

In India, the film started with gross collections of Rs 74 crore but saw a decline to Rs 42.50 crore on the second day. Tamil Nadu, being its primary market, contributed Rs 24 crore to the gross collections.

The movie also earned Rs 6 crore gross each in Andhra Pradesh-Telangana and Kerala, while in Karnataka, it reached Rs 4.50 crore in gross collections. Despite the decline, Leo crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in domestic nett collections within just two days.

The drop in collections could possibly be attributed to a lukewarm audience response. Whether the film can regain momentum in the upcoming weekend remains to be seen. Leo had to overcome several challenges prior to its release, including objections to its posters and the cancellation of the audio launch event.

Despite facing the cancellation of early morning shows in Tamil Nadu, the film had a strong opening day. However, its ability to sustain momentum compared to Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which grossed Rs 604.25 crore worldwide and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year, remains uncertain.
