Leaked images of iPhone 15 suggest Apple’s upcoming device will feature a ‘revolutionary’ design element

Many of us have the unfortunate habit of dropping our phones more often than we should. However, according to the latest iPhone 15 rumors, we may have less to worry about in the future.

In an article by Patently Apple, it is claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro will be constructed using a durable titanium alloy, replacing its previous stainless steel frame.

While titanium rivals steel in strength, it is up to 45 percent lighter, potentially making the iPhone 15 Pro model easier to carry without compromising its resilience.

Titanium also handles higher temperatures better than steel and offers similar protection against water damage.

Unfortunately, the use of titanium may increase the price of the iPhone 15 Pro, as it is a more expensive material than stainless steel.

These latest rumors support previous claims made by Apple analyst Jeff Pu, who suggested that the new model could be more expensive than previous Pro models.

While he did not disclose specific prices, it is worth noting that last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max started at £1,099/$999 and £1,199/$1,099 respectively.

If these rumors are true, it would mark the second time Apple incorporates titanium into its designs.

The Apple Watch Ultra, priced at £849/$799, already features a titanium case that offers a balance of weight, durability, and corrosion resistance according to Apple.

Patently Apple suggests that titanium could also be utilized in future MacBook and iPad designs, pointing to leaked product drawings.

However, it should be noted that these claims have not been publicly confirmed by Apple, and MailOnline has reached out to the company for comment.

Amidst numerous other rumors about the anticipated iPhone 15 and its potential features, footage of an iPhone 15 Pro “dummy” was leaked in April and surfaced on the Chinese version of TikTok.

The leaked prototype featured a titanium-based frame and a solid-state volume button replacing the mute switch. If true, this would be the first time Apple has changed the button design since the iPhone’s initial launch in 2007, and users may have more control over its sensitivity.

In addition, the dummy also featured a USB-C charging port instead of the usual Lightning port. This change aligns with previous comments made by Apple executive Greg Joswiak, who mentioned that the company had to comply with new USB laws passed by the EU.

As it is widely known, Apple is replacing its Lightning charging technology with USB-C in EU countries. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that some new Pro devices may support USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, allowing for faster data transfers compared to standard models.

The accuracy of the dummy or the Patently Apple rumors is still uncertain regarding the new iPhones.

We may not have to wait much longer, as Apple is expected to make major announcements in September.

WHY APPLE HAS RESISTED USB-C

Apple has long resisted the EU’s plans to impose a unified standard for charging cables, arguing that adopting USB-C would hinder innovation.

In a statement last year, an Apple spokesperson said, “We believe that regulations mandating smartphone charger harmonization would stifle innovation and harm consumers in Europe and the economy as a whole.”
