Leah Remini Submits Revised Lawsuit Accusing Scientology of Ongoing Harassment

Leah Remini has taken legal action against the Church of Scientology, claiming that the alleged harassment she has experienced since leaving the religion in 2013 has intensified since filing her initial lawsuit earlier this month. The amended lawsuit, filed with Judge Randolph M. Hammock, includes allegations of civil harassment, stalking, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and defamation, with Scientology leader David Miscavige also named as a defendant. One example cited in the amended suit is a Scientology statement suggesting that Remini consider moving to Russia due to threats and violence generated by her remarks about the church.

Furthermore, the revised complaint reveals that potential fraud has been flagged on several of Remini’s credit cards since filing the lawsuit, and her tutor’s business was recently hacked, resulting in a $15,000 loss. The suit indicates that the church was aware of the tutor’s association with Remini before the lawsuit was filed, as he had received Scientology promotions at his home. The church previously responded to Remini’s lawsuit, dismissing it as “ludicrous” and accusing her of spreading hate and falsehoods.

In her updated complaint, Remini seeks compensation for damages and repeats her claim that Scientologists have been actively attempting to ruin her life and career since she publicly departed the religion in 2013. The suit alleges that Remini has endured stalking, surveillance, harassment, threats, intimidation, and the spread of malicious rumors through Scientology-controlled social media accounts. It further asserts that the organization has targeted Remini’s family members, friends, colleagues, and business associates, resulting in personal and professional losses.

Remini emphasizes that her lawsuit aims to protect her rights to speak the truth and report factual information about Scientology, without being subjected to intimidation and harassment. The case is scheduled for a management conference on December 4th. Remini is well-known for her book “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology” released in 2015, as well as her hosting of the A&E documentary series “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” from 2016 to 2019.
