Leah Remini Files Lawsuit Against Church of Scientology

Leah Remini, a former member of the Church of Scientology, has taken legal action against the organization and its leader, David Miscavige. In her lawsuit, Remini accuses them of orchestrating targeted and harmful acts following her departure. Remini stated that she has endured psychological torture, defamation, surveillance, harassment, and intimidation for a period of 17 years. According to Remini, this has significantly impacted her personal and professional life. She believes that she is not the only individual who has been targeted by Scientology, but she aims to put an end to this behavior.

Leah Remini, the 53-year-old actress known for her role in the television show “King of Queens,” joined Scientology at a young age in 1979. However, she became one of the organization’s most vocal critics after leaving in 2013. In 2016, Remini co-created the docu-series titled “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.” The series shed light on allegations of statutory rape and other forms of abuse within Scientology. Through her lawsuit filed in the California Superior Court, Remini hopes to put an end to the organization’s alleged practice of harassment, defamation, and other unlawful conduct towards those labeled as enemies. She reveals that friends, relatives, and business associates have also been targeted.

Apart from seeking compensatory and punitive damages for the harm caused to her personally and professionally, Leah Remini is also aiming to protect her right to speak the truth and report facts about Scientology. She describes the actions of Scientology and its operatives as “mob-style operations and attacks” that aim to silence her completely. By filing this lawsuit, she aims to safeguard her constitutional rights as a citizen of the United States. (Read more Leah Remini stories.)
