Lawsuit Seeking $500,000 Reward Money from Lady Gaga Gets Dismissed

  • A lawsuit against Lady Gaga for unpaid reward money regarding her stolen dogs has been dismissed by a Los Angeles judge.
  • In February 2023, Jennifer McBride filed the lawsuit after returning Gaga’s dogs two days after they were stolen.
  • Previously arrested in connection with the 2021 robbery, McBride pleaded no contest to one count of receiving stolen property.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit against Lady Gaga for unpaid reward money in relation to her stolen dogs. The dismissal was recorded in court documents.

Jennifer McBride filed the lawsuit in February, claiming that she never received the promised $500,000 reward after returning Gaga’s stolen French bulldogs, Koji and Gustav.

McBride stated that she found the dogs two days after they were stolen during a robbery in February 2021, where Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, was shot.

McBride was one of the five individuals arrested for the kidnapping of the dogs. In December 2022, she received two years of probation after pleading no contest to one count of receiving stolen property, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Judge Holly J. Fujie determined that pursuing McBride’s current claims would allow her to benefit from her admitted wrongdoing, as she had previously been charged in connection with the theft. This ruling was based on court documents obtained by Insider.

Neither Gaga’s nor McBride’s lawyers immediately responded to Insider’s request for comment.

James Howard Jackson, the man who shot Fischer, was sentenced in December 2022 to 21 years in prison for his involvement. Lafayette Whaley and Jaylin White, the other two individuals involved in the robbery, received prison sentences of six years and four years, respectively, as reported by Deadline.

The sentence of Harold White, Jaylin’s father, who was charged with possessing a firearm with a prior conviction, is unknown.

“You shot me and left me to die, and both of our lives have changed forever,” Fischer said to Jackson in the courtroom, according to Rolling Stone.

According to Fischer’s Instagram, he appears to have fully recovered and continues to work with dogs.
