  • The nominees for the 2023 Latin Grammys were announced Tuesday.
  • Producer and songwriter Édgar Barrera leads this year’s nominations with 13.
  • Shakira, Karol G, and Camilo each have seven nominations.

Édgar Barrera — the producer and songwriter known for his work with artists like Madonna, Karol G, Peso Pluma, Shakira, and Grupo Frontera — has received the most nominations for the 2023 Latin Grammys, with a total of 13.

The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominees during a livestream on Tuesday.

Barrera is nominated in various categories, including best pop song, record, album, songwriter, and producer of the year. He also has multiple nominations in the song of the year, best tropical song, and best regional song categories.

Following closely behind are his collaborators, Karol G, Shakira, and Camilo, who each have seven nominations. Colombian songwriter Keityn, also known as Kevyn Mauricio Cruz Moreno, shares the same number of nominations.

Bizarrap, the Argentine record producer renowned for his Bzrp Music Sessions, has received six nominations.

Barrera and Moreno are also nominated in the songwriter of the year category, along with Felipe González Abad, Manuel Lorente Freire, Horacio Palencia, and Elena Rose. This category is one of three new additions to the awards, alongside best singer-songwriter song and best Portuguese-language urban performance.

The 24th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will be held on November 16th in Sevilla, Spain.

The record of the year category features 11 nominees, including Christina Aguilera, Rosalía, Natalia Lafourcade, Maluma, and Marc Anthony. The album of the year category includes Pablo Alborán, Camilo, Karol G, Juanes, and Carlos Vives.

Song of the year nominees include Lasso’s “Ojos Marrones”, Grupo Frontera featuring Bad Bunny’s “Un X100to,” and Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola.” Shakira herself has three nominations in this category for “Acróstico,” “TQG,” Karol G and Shakira, and “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” by Bizarrap featuring Shakira.

This nomination comes after Shakira’s performance and acceptance of the prestigious Video Vanguard Award at the 2023 MTV VMAs last week.

“This group of creators reflects musical excellence and the richness of Latin music, and I look forward to celebrating them during Latin GRAMMY Week in Sevilla, which will be a truly historic moment for our organization,” said Latin Recording Academy CEO Manuel Abud in a statement.

The Latin Grammys will be broadcast live on Univision in the U.S. and Radio Televisión Española in Spain.
