Latest Development: Graham Faces Potential Charges as Grand Jury’s Verdict Emerges

Lindsey Graham Avoids Legal Charges in Georgia Investigation

In a surprising turn of events, Lindsey Graham has managed to dodge potential legal trouble in Georgia. The special grand jury that conducted an investigation into former President Trump has released a report recommending charges against many individuals who were not ultimately indicted. This list includes Lindsey Graham, two former senators from Georgia – Kelly Loeffler and David Purdue, and longtime Trump ally Michael Flynn. The panel suggested charges for a total of 39 people, but only 19 of them ended up being indicted, as reported by the AP. While portions of the report were previously made public in February, the judge had postponed the release of specific charge recommendations until after the recent indictment of the 19 individuals. You can find the complete report here.

The special grand jury spent seven months gathering information from about 75 witnesses before submitting a report in December. Their recommendations were intended for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, concerning charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. It remains unclear why Willis decided not to pursue charges against Lindsey Graham and the others. Graham was compelled to testify before the grand jury in November after losing a legal battle in an attempt to avoid doing so. According to CNN, during the phone calls made to Georgia state officials—including secretary of state Brad Raffensperger—Graham seemed to be asking them to find ways to invalidate legally cast ballots.
