Late Kulusevski goal secures dramatic 3-3 draw between Man City and Tottenham

Dejan Kulusevski’s 90th-minute goal secured a 3-3 draw for Tottenham against Manchester City in the Premier League. Jack Grealish looked to be the hero for City with his 81st-minute goal, but Kulusevski’s late header off Brennan Johnson’s cross saved a point for Spurs.

In an action-packed game, City has now drawn its last three league matches, sitting third in the standings, three points behind leader Arsenal. They have conceded eight goals during this winless run.

Manchester City initially went behind to a goal from Son Heung-min in the sixth minute but led by halftime after the Tottenham captain scored an own goal in the ninth and Phil Foden struck in the 31st minute.

Giovani Lo Celso then leveled the score at 2-2 in the 69th minute before Grealish scored what appeared to be the winning goal for City.

After Kulusevski’s equalizer, referee Simon Hooper’s decision to award City a free kick added further drama to the game.

The draw ends Spurs’ three-game losing run and moves Ange Postecoglou’s team above Newcastle to fifth in the standings.

Guardiola had predicted an exciting match against a Spurs team that has been the surprise package in England’s top flight this season. Postecoglou, on the other hand, had vowed not to compromise his attacking style, even in the face of an injury crisis and a recent losing streak.

When Son scored early on, it seemed as though Spurs were staying true to their attacking intentions. However, their celebrations were short-lived, as Son inadvertently put the ball into his own net three minutes after giving the visitors the lead. Julian Alvarez’s free kick was met by Erling Haaland, and Son got the last touch to put the ball past his own goalkeeper.

Foden then gave City the lead from close range and Alvarez hit the post in a period when Postecoglou later admitted his team could have been blown away.

Vicario saved impressively against Bernardo Silva after the break before Lo Celso evened the score. Grealish’s goal, shortly after coming off the bench in the second half, gave City the lead. Kulusevski’s late header into the top corner added another twist to the game.

City continued to search for a winner, and it looked like they may have found it when Grealish burst away beyond the halfway line. However, his run was prematurely ended when the referee blew the whistle for a City free-kick, despite appearing to have played the advantage following a foul on Haaland.
