Last-Minute Cancellation: Queen Mary 2 Departure Aborted as Passengers Informed of Next Cruise Eight Weeks Away

A technical issue has resulted in the cancellation of the planned voyage from Southampton to New York on the Queen Mary 2. This also means that the return journey from New York to Southampton will be cancelled. The next voyage from Southampton will now be scheduled for May 7.

Passengers who were supposed to travel on the liner have expressed their frustration on Twitter about the last-minute cancellation. Lynda Hillyer expressed disappointment and anger, especially because Cunard did not inform her about the cancellation of the return flights. She had to book new flights at a significant cost.

In response, Cunard has stated that they are arranging flights home for their guests at their own expense and will cover all reasonable expenses. One passenger mentioned feeling sad rather than angry, as they had just checked out of their Southampton hotel and were about to call an Uber to take them to the QM2.

Other passengers have also shared their struggle to get in touch with Cunard’s customer services after the cancellation.

A spokesperson from Cunard apologized to all affected guests and assured that their customer care team and travel agent partners are actively working to provide support and make alternative travel arrangements.
