Former President Donald Trump now faces four active criminal cases, with the latest one being the most serious. This case, led by Fulton County, Ga. District Attorney Fani Willis, focuses on Trump’s involvement in a racketeering scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. The charges include attempts to build a rival slate of state electors, tampering with voting machines in Coffee County, and Trump’s infamous phone call on January 2, 2021, pressuring Georgia’s secretary of state to find enough votes to reverse the election outcome.
Additionally, Trump is also dealing with a federal case related to his efforts to overturn the election and another case concerning classified documents. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has also filed charges against Trump regarding the Stormy Daniels hush money scandal.
All of these legal troubles coincide with Trump’s campaign to return to the White House, further fueling the belief among his supporters that the justice system is biased against him. This sentiment is reinforced by the ongoing Hunter Biden investigation, which many see as a blatant cover-up.
Unfortunately, none of these cases contribute to healing the country or moving forward. Trump’s refusal to accept defeat in the 2020 election and his continued false claims of a stolen election have only deepened America’s divisions. If Trump had gracefully accepted defeat in 2020, he would be in a much better position for the 2024 election.
