As the future king and queen, Prince William and Kate Middleton are rising to the occasion and embracing their roles, leaving behind the family drama that has plagued them for years.

Prince William, in his role as the heir apparent, has assumed greater importance within the royal family since his father’s coronation. Alongside Kate, they have become key figures in modernizing and keeping the monarchy relevant.

Prior to the coronation, Prince William was photographed pouring a pint of ale and taking a ride on the new Elizabeth subway line, as reported by the Associated Press.

Following his father’s advice, Prince William is actively engaging in environmental issues and leading national conversations through his involvement with the Earthshot Prize that recognizes environmental innovators.

Prince William’s popularity has seen a significant rise since his father ascended the throne. According to a poll conducted by Ipsos for the Evening Standard after the coronation, his satisfaction rating among the public increased by 11 points to 73%.

In contrast to his mother, Prince Charles has always taken a more laid-back approach to royalty. Over the years, he has been photographed in candid moments, wearing balloon hats, enjoying beer, and even dressing up as a cheesemonger.

However, Charles’ former adviser, Kristina Kyriacou, revealed on ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship that Charles hasn’t made significant strides in modernizing the monarchy during his first year as monarch. Instead, he sees Prince William as the driving force for change and reform within the institution.

“The king will be thinking to himself, ‘My son will be able to be more modern than I could ever be,'” stated Kyriacou. “It is William — when King — who’ll be the big reformer of the monarchy.”
