Kimmel playfully ribs Mike Johnson over quirky father-son interests

When Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA) rose to the position of Speaker of the House, the question on everyone’s mind was: Who? Now that we’ve become acquainted with Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) successor, the prevailing query seems to be: Say what?

A recently resurfaced video from 2022 featuring Johnson has certainly shaken up Jimmy Kimmel. Filmed at a church in Louisiana, the clip captures Johnson discussing his and his 17-year-old son Jack’s practice of monitoring each other’s internet browsing habits, including pornography.

“They employ what they call ‘accountability software,’ which tracks online activities on various devices such as computers, phones, and iPads, and shares the information with an accountability partner,” explains Kimmel. In Johnson’s case, this partner happens to be his teenage son. “So, if his son views porn, his dad receives an alert. And if Mike indulges in the same, his son gets notified,” Kimmel adds, hinting that there can be such a thing as being too close to one’s children.

Kimmel, displaying genuine concern for Jack’s future well-being, publicly offers to be Johnson’s pornography accountability partner, should Johnson lack anyone else for the role. “I have an open mind, so whatever peculiar content you’re into—clown-themed porn, cosplay, foot fetishes, or tentacle fantasies—I won’t pass judgment. What occurs between you, Mike, and your Johnson is your business. But let’s ensure your son is spared from this, shall we?” Kimmel proposes.

In response, Johnson proudly asserts to the audience at his speech, which was part of a panel titled “War on Technology,” that his son “remains free from guilt.”
