The trial revolved around nine sexual offense charges, with incidents reported by four men that supposedly occurred between 2001 and 2013. Despite facing these serious allegations, Spacey maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty.
In a verdict delivered by London’s Southwark Crown Court, Spacey, who is 64 years old, was declared not guilty of charges including sexual assault, coercing a person into engaging in sexual activity without consent, and coercing a person into engaging in penetrative sexual activity.
During the trial, all four alleged victims provided testimony, despite the fact that their identities cannot be disclosed due to U.K. law. Spacey himself also took the stand, expressing his devastation and denial of the allegations made against him. The four men described Spacey as a “sexual bully” and a predator.
It is worth noting that Spacey gained widespread fame for his role in the Netflix series “House of Cards,” which he was subsequently fired from in 2017 after fellow actor Anthony Rapp accused him of prior sexual misconduct. However, a civil jury in Massachusetts later ruled in favor of Spacey, finding him not liable for the allegations.
