Kevin Costner’s Ex Threatens to Vacate Unless He Forks Out $248K Per Month

  • Actor Kevin Costner and his ex-wife are currently going through a contentious divorce.
  • Costner has asked his wife to move out of their California compound.
  • In order for her to comply, his wife, Christine Baumgartner, has requested $250,000 per month in child support.

Christine Baumgartner, the estranged spouse of esteemed actor Kevin Costner, has expressed her willingness to vacate their luxurious marital compound in California under certain conditions.

According to court documents obtained by Insider, Baumgartner, 49, filed papers on June 28 in their increasingly contentious divorce proceedings, agreeing to move out by the end of the summer if Costner agrees to provide $248,000 per month in child support.

Baumgartner clarified in her recent declaration that she never refused to move out as claimed by Costner, but rather made it clear that she would do so once they had a child support order or agreement in place. She also took steps to explore alternative housing options to demonstrate her commitment.

The court filing comes just before the scheduled meeting between Costner and Baumgartner before a judge to determine whether Baumgartner has the legal right to remain in the home, which is being disputed by Costner.

Costner has offered Baumgartner $30,000 in monthly child support payments, but Baumgartner argues that she needs $248,000 per month in order to maintain the lifestyle the children are accustomed to. According to her court filings, Baumgartner, a handbag designer, is currently unemployed and has no assets, apart from $50,000 in her checking account.

In contrast, Costner, who earned $19 million in 2022, claims to have covered all of their family’s $6.6 million expenses, as stated in Baumgartner’s court documents.

A ruling has yet to be made by the judge in the case.

Baumgartner filed for divorce last month, citing “irreconcilable differences.” In response, Costner filed a motion to evict her from their marital home, citing their prenuptial agreement which stipulates that she should vacate the property within 30 days in the event of a separation.

Aside from the $30,000 monthly support offer, Costner has proposed to contribute $1 million towards a new house for Baumgartner and cover the mortgage, insurance, and taxes on the property for a year, as stated in his court papers.

Baumgartner responded with legal documents accusing Costner, known for his role in “Yellowstone,” of attempting to unlawfully eject her and their three teenage children from the home they grew up in. Costner denies these allegations.

In her June 28 declaration, Baumgartner expressed concern for their children’s best interests, stating that it would be unwise to commit to a rental property without a solid financial plan, as it would result in multiple relocations.

Insider’s request for comment from the lawyers representing Baumgartner and Costner went unanswered.
