Keke Palmer fights for sole custody of son in legal battle with Darius Jackson

Keke Palmer seeks full custody after accusing ex Darius Jackson of domestic abuse

Keke Palmer has filed a domestic violence restraining order against her former boyfriend, Darius Jackson. The 30-year-old actress is seeking full custody of her 8-month-old son, Leodis Andrellton Jackson, after asserting that Jackson, 29, subjected her to repeated abuse during their relationship. Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court allege that Jackson has shown erratic and dangerous behavior, leading Palmer to pursue full physical and legal custody of their son.

Concurrently, Palmer has also requested a temporary restraining order and a domestic violence restraining order against Jackson. She described multiple incidents of physical and emotional abuse and backed her claims with security camera footage.

In her filing, Palmer alleged that Jackson trespassed into her home without her consent, threatened and assaulted her. Police were involved in the incident before Jackson left Palmer’s home.

Palmer’s mother has been vocal in her defense of the actress, going as far as to accuse Jackson’s brother, Sarunas Jackson, an actor known for his work on “Insecure,” of condoning his brother’s alleged abusive behavior. This was after Sarunas Jackson defended his brother in a tweet.

In a declaration, Palmer stated that she has concerns for her son’s safety around Jackson because of his volatile and violent nature. As a result, she has requested no contact from Jackson and a restraining order to prevent him from publicly commenting about her or her family. She also sought completion of a batterer intervention program for Jackson. She does not want Jackson to have visitation rights or is seeking child support.

Finally, Palmer goes on to emphasize the importance of her son’s safety and her urgency to escape the abuse, reflecting on the critical role that her son played in her ability to end the relationship with Jackson.

The singer and actress’ experience is a tragic yet all-too-common occurrence among women. For victims of domestic violence, there are confidential and secure resources available that offer advocacy, safety planning, crisis counseling, and assistance in finding shelters.
