Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, showcased her royal etiquette training at a prestigious royal event.

Monday marked Garter Day in the United Kingdom, a celebration of the Order of the Garter, which is recognized as the “oldest and most esteemed Order of Chivalry” according to the royal family’s official website.

The website further explains that the order was established by King Edward III nearly 700 years ago, drawing inspiration from King Arthur’s legendary round table.

The royal family commemorated this occasion with the Order of the Garter Service and Procession held at the enchanting St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest in September 2022.

Prominent members of the royal family including King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Prince Edward took part in the procession as they are all members of the prestigious Order.

Although not a member of the Order, Kate attended the service at the chapel.

After the service concluded, Kate observed as the king and queen departed in a carriage alongside William, Edward, and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh.

As the monarch and his wife passed by, Kate gracefully curtsied, folding her hands across her lap while bending her knees.

According to the royal family’s official website, it is customary for men to bow their heads when greeting the monarch, while women perform a curtsy, although these greetings are not obligatory.

Kate extended her respect to King Charles and Queen Camilla with her curtsy, smiling warmly as they passed by.

The Princess of Wales donned an elegant white dress adorned with black polka dots, designed by Alessandra Rich.

Over the years, polka dots have become a signature pattern for Kate, as she has been seen wearing polka dot ensembles at various events such as Wimbledon, the Royal Ascot, and even when dropping off her children on their first day of school.
