Kate Garraway’s Hilarious Blunder on Good Morning Britain Leaves Ben Shephard in Stitches: Time for a Break!

Kate Garraway left her co-host Ben Shephard in hysterics on Thursday, as he returned to Good Morning Britain after his summer break.

During an interview with Doctor Who star Jemma Redgrave, Kate made an ’embarrassing’ gaffe by mistakenly thinking Jemma was playing an octopus in her new stage show Octopolis.

Ben struggled to contain his laughter, jokingly saying he ‘needed a lie-down’ even though it was his first day back on the show.

Jemma, who is set to reprise her role as Kate Stewart in Doctor Who next year, was discussing her upcoming stage role.

Kate mentioned that Jemma would be playing an ‘octopus on-stage,’ expressing her curiosity about it.

Trying to suppress his laughter, Ben clarified that Kate was actually playing a scientist who cared for the creature, not the octopus itself.

Kate confessed to feeling slightly embarrassed about her octopus error, revealing that the concept had unnerved her since the morning meeting at GMB.

To which Ben humorously responded, ‘It’s only my first day back as well. How has anyone coped?’

Kate jokingly replied, ‘They are all in therapy!’ and Ben added, ‘I need a lie down!’

After the interview, Kate shared an update on her husband Derek Draper’s progress at the National Television Awards.

Derek, who was diagnosed with coronavirus in March 2020, had been in a life-threatening condition and in hospital for 13 months. He continues to face health challenges and relies on a wheelchair.
