An interesting development occurred in court on Tuesday as the son of actor and former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger successfully obtained a mental examination order for one of the plaintiffs involved in a consolidated lawsuit. The plaintiffs, Maryam Pirian, Manouchehr Pirian, and Gad Kakanyisa, claim to have sustained injuries in a car accident involving Schwarzenegger’s son in Brentwood in 2020. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Anne Hwang is assigned to oversee these combined cases, with all three defendants represented by the same attorneys. In previous court filings, Kakanyisa alleged mental distress resulting from the collision. Judge Hwang granted the defense’s motion to compel a mental assessment of Kakanyisa, instructing him to attend a session lasting six to eight hours with psychologist Kyle Boone within the next month.
“The court acknowledges the plaintiff’s claims of traumatic brain injury, attention difficulties, memory lapses, loss of balance, poor processing and comprehension, and impairments with visual processing due to his injuries. These factors bring his mental health into question, providing sufficient grounds for the requested examination,” Judge Hwang stated in her decision.
The Pirians, both 78 years old, assert that the collision took place on October 30, 2020, when they were driving south on Carmelina Avenue at Sunset Boulevard and Schwarzenegger’s 25-year-old son collided with their vehicle. Kakanyisa, 52 years old, was operating a second car that was allegedly struck by the actor’s son as well.
It is important to note that the Pirian-Kakanyisa lawsuit is separate from another legal action filed by Saam Takaloo in Los Angeles Superior Court against another one of Schwarzenegger’s sons, Joseph Baena, who is an actor and fitness model. This case is being handled by Judge Lisa Jaskol. Takaloo alleges that his car was struck by Baena’s vehicle on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Culver City on April 5, 2021. The lawsuit includes the same defendants as the Pirian-Kakanyisa case.
Baena, the 25-year-old contestant during the 31st season of “Dancing With the Stars,” is Schwarzenegger’s son from his alleged affair with former housekeeper Mildred Baena, which led to his divorce from Maria Shriver in 2011.
