Jonathan Majors Faces Pre-Trial Hearing in Assault Case

In a notable appearance at Manhattan criminal court, actor Jonathan Majors faced charges of assaulting a woman in March. Majors, accompanied by his attorneys and actress Meagan Good, appeared in the domestic violence section of the New York City Criminal Court. Dressed in a brown suit and carrying what appeared to be a Bible, Majors sat alongside Good with a solemn expression, almost in a prayer-like state. During the status conference, Judge Rachel S. Pauley ordered Majors to maintain distance from the individual who filed the assault allegations, as part of a protection order requested by the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

The arrest stemmed from a domestic dispute between Majors and a 30-year-old woman on March 25, where the woman reported being assaulted and sustained minor injuries to her head and neck. Majors, who recently made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has denied these allegations but has faced professional ramifications as a result. The New York City Police Department arrested Majors without incident and charged him with assault, attempted assault, harassment, and aggravated harassment.

Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, maintains his innocence, stating that video evidence and witness testimony will support their claims. Chaudhry offers insight into the woman’s emotional crisis and shares text messages suggesting she initiated the physical altercation with Majors. Nevertheless, further abuse allegations have been made against Majors since his arrest. As a result, certain organizations, including his management and public relations teams, have distanced themselves from the actor.

Majors had promising prospects in future Marvel projects, with recurring appearances and a role in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” However, the release of the film has been delayed to 2026, and Marvel has not provided a statement on the matter. Chaudhry criticizes the police and the district attorney’s handling of the case, alleging a double standard in their treatment of Majors and the woman involved.

Chaudhry asserts that her team has presented compelling evidence to the district attorney, including videos of the woman allegedly attacking Majors and causing visible injuries. She has requested the dismissal of all charges against Majors and the initiation of proceedings against the woman. Majors is scheduled to return to court on August 3.
