SCHENECTADY – The songwriting/folk duo of David Tamulevich and Libby Glover, also known as Mustard’s Retreat, offer a concert at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1935 The Plaza at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, to benefit Schenectady Community Ministries.

Mustard’s Retreat, along with their retired former partner, Michael Hough, formed in 1975 in Ann Arbor, Mich., which is still their home base. They quickly found success based on their engaging original songs and live performances, as stated by the church.

“Defiantly Hopeful, we feel that that is what folk music is about….Yes, it is joyful and fun, mystery and wonder, the heartbreaks and resiliency, celebrating life,” Tamulevich said in a statement. “Beneath all of that, it is community and finding common ground beyond the politics and differences … helping each other navigate through our times.”

Mustard’s Retreat has performed over 7,000 shows and has made local appearances at The Eighth Step, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and the Great Hudson River Revival. Their music has been played on WAMC, WSPN, and WRPI, among other stations. They have released 14 recordings mostly comprised of original material.

“Schenectady Community Ministries is thrilled to be the beneficiary of the concert by Mustard’s Retreat hosted by St. Stephen’s Church,” says Rev. Amaury Tañón-Santos, executive director and CEO of SiCM. “Beauty and art are also vital for community resilience and well-being. We are pleased to join St. Stephen’s and the greater Schenectady community in this opportunity to appreciate beauty together.”

The Rev. Jane Brady-Close, priest-in-charge, said St. Stephen’s is grateful for creation and is cultivating thoughtful concern and advocacy for the Earth, especially during the month of October.

“We are kicking off our new creation season with a special musical celebration for our community,”
