Johnny Depp Reclaims Ownership of $10M Homes Previously Foreclosed on

Johnny Depp narrowly avoided losing two of his West Hollywood homes, thanks to a $10 million loan he secured. One of his properties, located on N. Sweetzer Avenue, had faced foreclosure in 2016 for an outstanding amount of $4.28 million. However, Depp managed to pay off the debt and regain full ownership. The other property, often described as a gothic replica of a Bavarian castle, fell into default in 2018 with a staggering $5 million debt. Depp acquired the loan from City National Bank, also known as the “bank to the stars,” due to its reputation for providing substantial loans to celebrities. The loan became necessary for Depp after he exhausted his $650 million fortune on legal battles with Amber Heard and extravagant spending.

The castle-like home spans across 7,430 square feet, resembling a set from a horror movie, complete with turrets and towers. Depp originally purchased the eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom property in 1995 for $2.15 million. Situated on 2.6 acres of land near the renowned Sunset Strip, the house remains hidden from view on a cul-de-sac, shielded by lush foliage and trees that offer privacy. Nevertheless, tour buses frequently approach the area, transporting enthusiastic fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous actor. Local resident John Ryan, who has been living on the street for 28 years, expressed frustration at the constant commotion caused by the tour buses.

Despite his efforts to preserve the homes, Depp rarely spends time there. He predominantly resides in his island home in the Bahamas, using the properties in West Hollywood more as investments. Currently, Depp is touring Europe with his band, Hollywood Vampires, which he formed alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. Inquiries regarding his situation have been made to Depp’s representatives.
