John Roberts of Fox News Offers Apology for Insulting Comment Aimed at Chris Christie.

During a broadcast on Tuesday, Fox News host John Roberts issued an apology for a comment he admitted was “hurtful” to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who announced his GOP presidential campaign for 2024. Roberts used a clumsy metaphor about milkshakes to describe the growing field of Republican candidates seeking to challenge front-runner Donald Trump for the nomination. One milkshake was effectively owned by Trump due to his unyielding support from his MAGA base, while the other milkshake contained the straws of Trump’s ever-increasing number of rivals, including Christie. Roberts said, “Judging by Chris Christie’s physical stature, he could drink a lot of that milkshake if he wanted to, but you’re not affecting the Donald Trump milkshake, you’re just affecting the other part.” Roberts apologized later in the show, saying he felt “terrible” and that he should not have made the comment. Christie has been the subject of attacks regarding his weight, including from Trump, who made size-related comments following Christie’s campaign launch. Trump’s campaign predicted Christie would “waste no time” eating the lunch of their GOP rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
