James Cameron Dismisses Speculations About Production of Disaster Film Based on Titan Sub Incident

James Cameron has dispelled rumors surrounding his involvement in a film about the tragic implosion of the OceanGate Expeditions submersible that resulted in the deaths of five individuals.

In a recent tweet, Cameron addressed the rumors, stating, “I don’t usually respond to offensive rumors in the media, but I feel the need to now. I am NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, and I never will be.”

This response from the acclaimed director comes after a publication, The Sun, released an anonymously sourced article claiming that Cameron was set to direct a project centered around the ill-fated Titan voyage to explore the wreckage of the Titanic.

The article cited “insiders” as the source of this information and mentioned that Cameron was planning to involve top Hollywood stars like Matt Damon in the series.

Although Cameron’s appearance in an ABC News interview discussing the OceanGate incident added fuel to the rumors, the director clarified in the interview that he had concerns about the sub and its safety prior to the tragedy.

The fatal accident involving the OceanGate Expeditions’ Titan submersible occurred thousands of feet below the water’s surface during a mission to observe the Titanic’s wreckage in the Atlantic. The submersible’s demise and the subsequent discovery of its fragments led to the confirmation of all five individuals’ deaths, including OceanGate Expeditions’ CEO, Stockton Rush.

Following the incident, OceanGate announced the suspension of all explorations. The Sun has not responded to HuffPost’s request for comment on the matter.
