Jalen Ramsey, Dolphins’ Cornerback, to Undergo Knee Surgery and Will Be Absent for Start of Season

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey of the Miami Dolphins is set to undergo knee surgery following an injury sustained during training camp in Miami Gardens. According to coach Mike McDaniel, Ramsey will miss the beginning of the regular season as a result. The surgery is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT, and it will address a left meniscus injury. McDaniel explained that the injury occurred during a non-contact drill at the Baptist Health Training Complex. Initially, it was believed that Ramsey’s injury was the result of a collision, but he later clarified on Twitter that it was a non-contact injury. Ramsey expressed confidence in his recovery, stating that he would come back stronger and that it would take some time. He also hinted at potentially missing multiple games in 2023 but potentially returning later in the season. Ramsey, known for his impressive track record as a three-time All-Pro, joined the Dolphins in a trade this past March. In the 2022 season, he was ranked the third-highest rated cornerback in the NFL, as per Pro Football Focus. McDaniel emphasized Ramsey’s commitment and excitement to join the team whenever his return occurs. In the meantime, the Dolphins are exploring options to add depth to their cornerback position by hosting a free agent workout. Kader Kohou, Cam Smith, Justin Bethel, Trill Williams, Nik Needham, and Keion Crossen are among the cornerbacks listed on the team’s roster. The Dolphins’ preseason opener is set to take place on August 11 against the Atlanta Falcons in Miami Gardens.
