Jalen Kitna, Former Florida QB, Speaks Out After Child Pornography Case

Former Florida Gators quarterback, Jalen Kitna, has finally broken his silence after his child pornography charges were dropped. In a statement obtained by TMZ, Kitna expressed his respect for the legal process and explained his decision to remain silent for the past eight months. He confidently stated that the accusations made against him as a teenager were inaccurate and would ultimately be proven false.

The case, which involved three counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of distribution of child exploitation material, stemmed from an incident where a Discord user shared an explicit photo of prepubescent girls. Kitna was arrested on November 30 after Gainesville police received a tip.

According to Kitna, he cooperated with detectives throughout the investigation and willingly provided his passwords. He was shocked when he was informed that an image he shared online was potentially of an underage female. Kitna claimed that he found the photo on a legal and easily accessible site, and he had no reason to believe it was illegal. Despite this, he was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography.

Throughout the ordeal, Kitna hoped that the truth would prevail and he would be exonerated. However, he acknowledges that many people have only read the original reports and have already formed judgment.

On July 5, Kitna reached an agreement with Florida prosecutors. He pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor breach of the peace, disorderly conduct, which should not be considered an admission of guilt. Kitna adamantly emphasized that he did not commit a crime of this nature and pointed to the facts of the investigation and its resolution as proof.

Following his arrest, Kitna was dismissed from the Florida Gators and faced a campus ban. However, he revealed that the ban was lifted by the school following his court case. Kitna shared that all of his devices, which were confiscated by investigators, were returned to him after forensic testing. The testing revealed no other questionable images, videos, chats, or searches for inappropriate material.

Additionally, Kitna disclosed that he underwent an extensive psychosexual evaluation conducted by a highly experienced doctor. The evaluation concluded that Kitna displayed no deviant characteristics, had normal interests as a teenager, and was considered to be in the lowest possible percentile for likelihood to commit a crime.

In his statement, Kitna expressed his remorse for the unimaginable eight months that his family and friends had endured. He acknowledged their unwavering love and support. Despite the difficulties he faced, Kitna remains hopeful for the future and is determined to pursue a college degree, revive his football career, and move forward with his life.

Kitna indicated that prosecutors insisted on a misdemeanor charge rather than dropping the charges entirely. He accepted the plea deal as the best option for him to return to a normal life as a student and potentially resurrect his football career. He believes that the certainty and lack of significant consequences associated with the plea agreement will help him move forward.
