The NFL preseason is a valuable opportunity for players to leave their mark, and it’s safe to say that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nathan Rourke did just that in their 28-23 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
In an impressive display, Rourke threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Qadree Ollison while being tackled, creating a highlight reel moment.
The play began with Rourke evading two tacklers who seemed poised to bring him down in the backfield. Despite being wrapped up by another Cowboys defender, Rourke managed to release a pass as he fell to the ground.
“It’s a bit of a blur,” Rourke admitted in an interview with the Jaguars team website. “I knew I needed to buy some time to complete the longer route. Qadree did a great job following our scramble rules, and I just gave him a chance. I’m thrilled that it worked out.”
In Saturday’s preseason game against Dallas, Rourke completed nine of his 17 passes, amassing 153 passing yards. He also contributed 20 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Rourke, a 25-year-old native of Victoria, British Columbia, made the jump to the NFL after spending two seasons with the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League. In January, he signed a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars after attracting interest from multiple NFL teams.
Furthermore, Rourke played college football at Ohio University.
