Jabrill Peppers, DeVante Parker call out refs for no-call on Douglas hit
Early in the fourth quarter of the New England Patriots’ 10-7 loss to the New York Giants, rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas was sent out to return a punt when Giants linebacker Cam Brown essentially clotheslined him at neck level.
Douglas hit the ground hard and was ruled out for the rest of the game with a head injury. His teammates Jabrill Peppers and DeVante Parker commented on the hit and no-call in their postgame press conferences.
Peppers expressed his frustration about the lack of player safety enforcement, drawing on his own experience of being fined for clean hits while the hit on Douglas went unnoticed. Parker, who has missed games due to concussion protocol, also criticized the refs for not taking action. With another frustrating loss, Patriots fans are now shifting their focus towards the upcoming games and the hope for a favorable draft pick.

Peppers was fined $43,709 in a previous game for unnecessary roughness after no flag was thrown on the play in real-time. Ultimately, the Patriots now sit at 2-9 and will resume action next Sunday at 1 p.m. ET against the Los Angeles Chargers.
