Is Your Vehicle on the List? Recall of Nearly Half a Million Tesla, Nissan, Toyota, and Mazda Vehicles in the US for Severe Safety Issues That Pose Possible Serious Injuries

Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, and Tesla have been implicated in recalls concerning various issues like faulty airbags, unintended acceleration, seatbelt problems, and misaligned cameras.

According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a total of over 436,000 vehicles from these four car manufacturers could have dangerous defects.

Mazda is recalling its Mazda3 (2014-2018) and CX-3 (2016-2021) models due to rearview camera display issues, while Toyota’s Lexus, Corolla, Highlander, and Tacoma vehicles made from 2023 to 2023 might experience airbag deployment problems.

Nissan is recalling 66,159 LEAF vehicles manufactured between 2018 and 2023, as they could have unintended engine torque, while Tesla’s Model S and X vehicles may have seat belts that are incorrectly connected to anchors.

Although NHTSA announced each recall individually, all of them were announced by the respective car manufacturers this month.

In a statement, Mazda Motor Corporation announced that it will conduct a Safety Recall for certain Mazda3 (2014-2018) and CX-3 (2016-2021) vehicles. The rearview cameras in these models may have been improperly designed, leading to harness damage from vibrations during vehicle movement.

This damage can cause wear and electrical resistance in the pins, resulting in image distortion or flickering on the main screen. Mazda highlights that a distorted or flickering rearview camera image during reversing could impact driver judgment and increase the risk of a crash. The recall was issued on July 19.

Owners of vehicles with a verified distorted or flickering image should contact Dealer Recall Help to determine the necessary repairs.

Toyota recalls serval of its vehicles, including its Corolla Cross, for faulty airbags

Toyota has announced a recall on July 12 for 110,047 vehicles manufactured in 2023 and 2024. The root cause of the issue is the improper assembly of airbags in several Toyota models, such as the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Tacoma, Lexus RX350, RX350 Hybrid, RX500 Hybrid, and Lexus NX250, NX350, and NX350 Hybrid (2023-2024).

According to Toyota, the electrical connection inside the steering column’s spiral cable assembly may not have been sufficiently welded, leading to problems with airbag separation and deactivation. The company emphasizes that a deactivated driver’s airbag increases the risk of injury during a crash. Owners are urged to have their vehicles inspected and replaced if necessary. Notifications will be sent out on August 27, 2023.
