Is the Return of the Iconic British Car Brand Possible with the Introduction of the Triumph TR25 Electric Concept?

The Triumph brand, known for its iconic British sports cars like the Stag, Spitfire, and Dolomite, may be making a surprising comeback with a new all-electric roadster. London-based design house, Makkina, has unveiled the TR25 concept, a modern take on the fifties TR2 sports car. With permission from BMW, who currently own the rights to the Triumph Motor Company name, Makkina has created a one-off vehicle using the BMW i3 S as the donor platform. The TR25 features a rear-mounted 184bhp electric motor, propelling it from 0 to 62mph in just 5.2 seconds. The lightweight construction helps improve battery range, estimated at 190 miles. The design pays homage to the famous ‘Jabbeke’ TR2 that broke the land speed record in 1953. The TR25 concept, showcased at an event on the Thames, incorporates modern features while retaining the classic elements of the original TR2, including the frog-eye headlamps. Even the Triumph badge has been given a contemporary upgrade. Inside, the minimalist cabin is designed to provide a distraction-free driving experience. Only essential information like speed, charge levels, and battery range is displayed, with the rest accessible through the self-centering dial in the steering wheel. While the TR25 is currently just a concept, it demonstrates the potential for a Triumph revival.
